About

Hi. I’m John Henry. Welcome to my blog!

This is a repository for my own reflections on work with Youth With A Mission and the Student Mobilization Centre. To learn more, please visit the SMC web site.

Most of these posts will be my own. Let me know you came by and feel free to comment on the posts.

Speaking to your group

I offer biblical and historical illustrations with my own personal testimonies in over 30 years of faith ministry. My focus is to help every believer focus on what is really important in life and learning.

Through carefully customized presentations designed to meet your group’s specific needs, I emphasize God’s calling to intimate relationship and missional service.  I am pleased to help people of all ages to discern their gifts, strengths, and callings.

As a faith missionary with experience in many different aspects of church, missions, and leadership, especially among university students, I have learned many essentials for spiritual formation and leadership emergence. I have coordinated, equipped, and mobilized student teams from over 100 colleges and universities to serve alongside long term field projects on short-term internships in over thirty countries.

I would be honored to come share my life and minister to your group.

As Christian parents with active involvement in our family’s education and local congregation, my wife Mary and I are also in touch with the daily challenges confronting families, young people, and churches. Mary and I have taught together and we are able to share what works, what doesn’t, and what makes the difference for your family, your Church, or your ministry group.

My background

We both joined Youth With A Mission in 1985 and we were married in 1988. We have two terrific sons, Justin and Nathan, and a beautiful girl, Rebecca, whom we adopted in 1999.

In 1989 I began directing internships with the University of the Nations in Kona, HI. I am the founder of the Student Mobilization Centre (SMC) with offices now on three continents. The Centre was first commissioned internationally at the UofN Workshop in Seoul, S. Korea in 1997.

The SMC has staff in Colombia, India, Germany, Sweden, and several cities in the USA.

Part of my experience includes serving on a Pastoral Search Team for a mid-sized evangelical church community. I offer insights from that experience for churches in transition.

My Education: MA Global Leadership, Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA. (Graduated: 2009)
